Personally, I think the service is probably more helpful for someone with a complicated case. However, for a straight forward case, you end up paying for a document clerk. The amount of questionnaires asked are in fact the same as filling out the form yourself. Although the law office is in New Orleans, much to my surprise, they couldn’t get a copy of court records for traffic violations although you sign a power of attorney. I even offered to pay whatever rate and fees they charged to get this done on my behalf and it couldn’t be accommodated. With that, they still send you the packet incomplete as parts of it are required to be filled out by the applicant.

At the time of my interview, there was no representation. Even the officer who conducted the interview asked me why I had a lawyer if they didn’t show up for the interview. I ended up having to waive rights to representation. It all went well, again, simple case. However, the office shouldn’t take that for granted if you’ve paid for services.

I also found the office pushy. I told them initially that I have no real timeline to get this done and just wanted to do it eventually. I even told them I don’t mind putting any other cases in front of mine as long as I can move at my own pace which was not well received. It took 6 mo to actually file the form especially since I had to find time out of my travel for work job to be in New Orleans to get a copy of my traffic violation. I got threatened to be released from their services despite paying in full. I still don’t understand the way this office approaches this process. If paid in full, it should be at the clients pace.

This part I can’t fault the office for as its simple business practice was to push their services. During the consultation, I discussed what would be my case and asked if they saw any need for their services or if it sounds simple enough to file on my own. They of course pushed representation as your typical sales tactics and, in reflection, I would’ve taken care of this myself. Reviews do reflect highly on their ability once there’s an actual case so my review is mostly to say if it’s a simple case, the services are underwhelming. If you believe you have a case needing good representation, it may be more worth it to you.
